Job Description

The Maintenance Electrician will report directly to the Maintenance Manager in Mississauga, ON.

Key Responsibilities
• Effective troubleshooting and repair of extrusion equipment.
• PLC (Allen Bradley – PLC5/CLx) expertise to troubleshoot, install and modify programs.
• Perform routine preventive and predictive maintenance on all equipment related to production operations and building systems.
• Identify root and trend analysis, providing innovative solutions to resolve and remedy electrical/hydraulic/pneumatic issues.
• Provide assistance to Electrical Technicians, fostering a supportive team environment.
• Provide recommendations for continual improvements and maximize efficiencies.
• Maintain a safe work environment, complying with the Company’s Health & Safety guidelines.
• Must be able to work different shifts, overtime, weekend shifts, and commit to call-ins if required during breakdown situations.
• Able to do lifting.
• Other duties as assigned.

Salary
• Hourly Rate: $39.55 – $41.94 (Rate will be $1 less during probationary period – 900 hours worked).
• After the probation – Salary commensurate with experience.

Shift

New hires may be required to rotate shifts (Midnights, Afternoons and Day shift – the frequency of the rotation will be determined by the manager)

Work Experience

Key requirements
• Minimum 5 years’ experience within industrial automation environment.
• Proven experience and working knowledge of PLC’s (Allen Bradley).

Education
• High school diploma or work experience equivalent.

Functional/Technical Knowledge
• A certified Industrial Electrical License (442A/309A).
• Ability to troubleshoot hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Working knowledge of AC/DC motors, VFDs.
• Knowledge of PC’s, Windows operating and CMMS systems.
• Ability to prioritize and handle multiple daily assignments with minimal supervision.
• Knowledge of natural gas combustion system and extrusion equipment would be a definite asset.

Other
• Ability to work with a team and independently.
• Must read, write and speak English.
• Basic math skills.
• Good written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• Understand the new hires may be required to rotate shifts (Midnights, Afternoons and Day shift – the frequency of the rotation will be determined by the manager).
• We are a unionized company. According to the CBA, the candidates will be working in a steady shift. The shift will be determined based on seniority by the time they are hired.
• Benefits as per their Collective Agreement – Health, dental, out of country coverage, vision coverage.
• Pension – with Canada Wide Industrial Pension Plan – employer and employee contributions (Employer – $1.67 per hour worked, Employee – $0.85 per hour worked).
• Vacation – 2 weeks as per the Collective Agreement to start, after 5 years, increases to 3 weeks.
